  It gets so cold here when night hits.  Shrieking winds rush brutally through the endless holes in the foul walls, and black rain lashes down on us through the nearly completely rotted away roof.  Of course, it is only getting so much worse.  First frost will be here soon.  We will start dropping like flies then.  I have only been in these dank quarters for a week, and I am already shaking with sickness and nightmares.  I can only imagine what twisted and excruciating thoughts fly through the minds of the harrowed women who have been here longer than I have. Sometimes you sit and dream. You can count the countless little bumps crowding the ceiling and it will hit you. I guarantee it. Maybe the quiet background song will free it, or mayhap some small trinket will bring all of it back, but it will jam straight into what  you're thinking about. Missing you    The rain always makes me think of you. Every trailing tear falling from the sky ushers in every moment, every dream I have of you. I still remember how gentle you were when you laid me down for the first time. You were caring and so careful and always knew just what to say. I remember resting my head on your knee as you hummed yet another beautiful song as you tried to capture it on paper. Every time I hear music, it makes me ache. I never used to need anyone. Now I can't breathe without one- that is, without you. My paltry words could never explain why, or how much I desperately and truly love you.
